Chris is signing off as well

Hey all!

So this will be a shorter post, because we're trying to take advantage of my last day here! But we still wanted to give you some more eye-candy of all the wonders we've been seeing in Indo.

This is mid-hike on Rinca island. Scotty got a kick out of all the trees looking like balloons. In this photo, you can see Hedwig, Scott, Stan, and Anders. We really enjoyed the company of the Dutch, so it's a shame that we weren't able to meet up again on Bali.
Yep, so the driving was ridiculous - here you might be able to see a glimmer of all the construction that was going on around Flores island. Actually, we were blocked off from the roads until we paid a small fee. The locals are cool with just waiting out the construction, but they all get to go through after the foreigners pay the "toll."
Here we are in our first tiny village. Actually, the monitor I'm looking at this picture on isn't that great, so I can't actually tell who's in the picture. You can probably guess by now - you all know us all!
Here we are getting that tour from the Dutch guy. Of course, Stan and Hedwig are listening attentively so they can give us the info right after. At this moment, I believe that he's telling us about the number of planks in this small house, and how it relates to the number of families that founded the village. But I could be way off.
Scotty posing with a women from whom he purchased some goods. Her teeth are all red from the juice of the betel nut.
Here Anders is getting some help about how he might wear this shawl that the women is selling. They make all the fabric here, and we got to see where they weave it all.
The Dutch! We'll miss Stan and Hedwig!
This is the view of the harbor on Flores Island at sunset. Around 4:30 am, the half-hour call to prayer starts. At around 6:30 am, the boats started blasting their music. Needless to say, we didn't spend too many mornings sleeping in while near the Flores harbor.
Here we are all at dinner. From left to right, we have Laura, Anders, John, Scott, Stan, Hedwig, Benjy, and Dani. There's also the arm of our waitress. 3 cheers for Chris' horrible photography.
The nickname for this fruit is "snake fruit" but we think it's really called salat in Indonesian. That's what we were told, but the guy didn't seem too sure. It's super delicious: it has a white meat to it, and a big pit. John described it as "sort of a sweet and sour apple."

Sunset on Seraya Island, where Laura, Scott, and I stayed for 3 days while Anders was surfing in Flores.

Sunrise on Seraya Island. Our internal clocks got shifted so that we were tired when the sun goes down (at 6:30) and awake when the sun came up (6:15). I think we're a bit more "normal" now that we're in Kuta, Bali, but it was nice to have that rhythm for a while.

Belangan beach. A small swell, plus a mid-tide made for really small waves. It was sort of impossible to surf; the big waves emptied the reef of water in front of the wave, so it wasn't that safe to surf anyhow. But we try everywhere!

Trying to get a good surfer shot. Chris, Anders, and Scott on safari. This day, we went to Blue Ocean break in Legian/Seminyak, Belangan beach, and Dreamland break near Uluwatu.

We look pretty awesome, I'd say. But then again, you can't really tell that this photo was taken after we went the wrong way on a small dirt road while looking for a beach. Still, it's about looking for surf just as much as riding the surf. I guess I say that because we spent much looking than we did surfing. But it was still good times.
