So here we have some bananas hanging from the tree. I definitely wouldn't have guess that they hang upside down. I tried opening one up, but unripe bananas don't really smell/taste like a normal bananas. Monkeys, however, seem indifferent to color and taste.

In this photo, you can see some ducks that were chilling on the side of a rice field. It seems that the people here try to do the same things as folks I know in Kazakhstan - there is a lot of supplemental farming/livestock-raising that goes toward daily food consumption. I think one or two of us has voiced the question, "But where the heck do the locals eat?" As we venture further and further into the normal neighborhoods, we're starting to see the answer. Anders tried to figure out how much land each family requires in order to feed a family of 4 or 5, but we couldn't get a straight answer. Either way, "rice is a great thing to eat when you want to have 5 thousand of something..."

Here's a typical view from the walk we took: beautiful open sky, reaching palm trees, the rice fields (which also follow the system of rotating crops - letting the ground lay fallow for a year. I really wanted to throw in some "follow fallow fields for fun" alliteration, but it was too obvious, heh), and the volcanic mountain gracing the background. Very beautiful.

Scott and Anders in the foreground, Paulina and Laura in the background. We set out into the jungle at the edge of the fields for a while, but we couldn't find the bamboo bridge we were looking for; we could only find 5-star hotels and hidden swimming pools.

Walking the streets at night. But what just happened in this photo? Throw in your guess into the comment section. The most creative answer (and/or correct answer) will get an Indonesian bracelet from Scott.

I don't know...but Anders looks extremely guilty...
Look who just step in some dogie pooh
scott had just seen two monkeys consummating their monkey love, but the female monkey actually connected eyes with scott, and actually audibly mouthed the word 'scott' followed by a squeal of delight.. all while in the act.
anyways, anders didn't actually see this and you can see he is still stumbling with laughter, after near-tripping over two monkeys getting it on and a female with locked eyes on scott.
im gonna go with...anders pooped his pants.
everyone else?
horrified.
The voting will be open for another week, but so far Gabriel has the most creative answer. No one has gotten the right answer, and you're all definitely placing the blame on the wrong person...
The Rest of the Story
As our adventerous fab five leave an area swimming pool at a Bali five star hotel one gustavus diver poses a question to the other. Let's listen in:
Scott: hey, indo girl . . . . you know what they call a failed dive in this part of the world . . .
Dani: hmmmmm . . . . i'm thinkin' . . .
(walking . . . pauses, takes a sip)
Scott: come on . . . you KNOW it . . .
(another pause . . . another sip)
Dani: hmmmmm . . . . . I give . . .
Scott: (smugly) . . . a Bali - flop!
At that very moment, Chris (designated photographer for the night) snaps this photo of his four friends, catching their reactions.
And now you know the rest of the story.
